Created by husband and wife team Meherwan and Molly Irani, the Chai Pani Restaurant Group was first introduced in Asheville, N.C. in 2009 with the opening of Chai Pani. Doing away with traditionally formal Indian dining, the Chai Pani team continues to deliver a menu and atmosphere as diverse as the country’s own culture, changing the preconceived notions that most Americans have about Indian food while serving up mindblasting chaat, thalis and more.

A second Chai Pani location arrived in Decatur, Ga. in 2013, with a menu featuring a variety of authentic options including “chaat” (small plates), sandwiches, “uttapam” (Indian crepes), thalis (home style entrees), desserts, beverages and signature craft cocktails. In addition to Chai Pani, the restaurant group has since expanded to a family of five restaurants, including the addition of Asheville’s MG Road, a bar and lounge located beneath Asheville’s Chai Pani location featuring a selection of Indian street food alongside signature cocktail creations; Botiwalla, an Irani Café-inspired concept in Atlanta’s Ponce City Market with a flavorful menu of chaat, sigiris, tandoors and house-made cocktails and slushies; and Buxton Hall Barbecue, an award-winning Asheville hotspot specializing in whole hog barbeque.
